It's not always that easy to be environmentally friendly at the same time as saving yourself a few dollars. The examples of where this phenomenon plays out are many—we all know just how expensive organic foods and products are at the supermarket! But it's also generally been difficult to keep things affordable when trying to be environmentally friendly in the process of upgrading electronics products like laptops. The simple act of buying a new laptop is a major investment, and the frequency with which many people buy them these days compounds the problem many times over. In short, it's a losing situation. But it doesn’t have to be that way…
The average laptop owner can manage to reduce costs by buying and selling in used laptops and laptop parts, like an averatec laptop memory card or a power cable. The market of used computer parts like these is massive, and yet it is vastly underutilized by the majority of the people out there that would really benefit from it. For every new averatec laptop memory card there are probably thousands if not millions of used ones, all at a fraction of the price and most probably in pretty good shape. In those conditions, why wouldn't you want to take advantage of the used market—right?
Yet still many persist in their uneconomical and completely not eco-friendly ways. Instead of just removing their old averatec laptop memory card and replacing it with a new one, they buy a whole new laptop and throw the old one away in a manner that will likely end up having negative consequences for the environment. That way of dealing with laptops and electronics in general is misguided, foolish, wasteful, polluting, and downright ignorant—and worst of all, it's not sustainable.
Sustainability should always be our leading principle when we're dealing with industries that can end up wreaking significant havoc on the environment, and the electronics industry has already proven to do that to a certain extent. In fact, the magnitude of the problem is so great now that we're producing millions of tons of e-waste (as it's known these days) each year in the United States alone—and only a little of it is being recycled. Instead, people continue to simply throw things like their averatec laptop memory card away carelessly into the trash as they would do with any other common piece of refuse, when in reality they're dealing with a valuable and potentially highly contaminating product (when it's not recycled properly).
With that said, thanks to the ease of access which the internet provides us millions of people across the world are buying and selling their electronics items, from averatec laptop memory cards to much more, online and getting a pretty good deal out of it. Those that want to get rid of something have the convenience of being able to get a money return on it and the peace of mind from knowing they've proceeded in an eco-friendly way. Those that want to get something have the benefit of a cheaper cost and the opportunity to increase sustainability and recycling—a truly win-win situation.
